Setup Instructions

Step 1: Cut the Power

Go to your circuit breaker or fuse box and shut off the breaker for the outlet you will be working on. Confirm the power is off before you begin.

Step 2: Remove the Existing Cover Plate

Using a screwdriver, take out the screws holding the old cover plate. Lift the plate off and set it aside.

Step 3: Extract the Old Outlet

Unscrew the old outlet from the electrical box and gently pull it forward to access the wiring.

Step 4: Disconnect the Wires

Carefully release the wires from the old outlet. Loosen terminal screws if the wires are wrapped around them, or clip and re-strip the ends if they are pushed into rear terminals.

Step 5: Wire the New Outlet

Attach the wires to your new brass outlet:

  • Wrap bare wire ends around terminal screws and tighten, or insert stripped ends into push-in terminals.
  • Follow the markings for Line, Neutral, and Ground - this is especially important for GFCI and USB-C outlets.

Step 6: Seat the New Outlet

Fold the wires carefully back into the electrical box. Fasten the new outlet to the box with the provided screws.

Step 7: Attach the Brass Cover Plate

Position the brass plate over the outlet and secure it with the included screws.

Step 8: Restore the Power

Once everything is firmly in place, turn the breaker back on at the electrical panel.

Step 9: Test the Outlet

  • Plug in a device to verify the outlet delivers power.
  • For USB-C models, connect a compatible charger to confirm the USB port is operational.
  • For GFCI outlets, press the Test and Reset buttons to verify the safety mechanism works correctly.
